I don't think that Swiss people are stingy.
Well we value the money, but we are definitely not stingy.
I think you may be exaggerating a bit.

Good to know that you experienced the other way around, but maybe you are lucky :)
For me personally and for some friends of mine it is sometimes difficult things around money. Sometimes when we want to travel together with Swiss people we always getting into trouble between each other. Or when we go out for dinner and we have to split the bill etc..
In Switzerland everybody is so stingy!

I have experienced enormous generosity with some Swiss. A friend from Basel once said to me that if ever I am hungry I just need to come to his home and just sit down at his table without any explanations.Another Swiss gave me an envelope once with Sr.3,000.00 in it and without asking for a signed receipt said. Pay me back when things go better. When I'm in Luzern I stay in a farm house and they thoroughly spoil me and never count the cost. They share everything they've have. If there's one piece of bread left on the table they offer it first to me.I think that sometimes one mistakes the Swiss as being stingy when in fact they are just correct to the rappen and straight and fair in money matters.
