About me:
Sharon has been a therapist in private practice since 1997 following professional studies at the University of Hull, U.K. after which she was awarded the Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in Counselling and is a Member of the British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Following qualification Sharon set up her own part–time counselling practice in Hampshire at the same time as undertaking full time posts with the Home Office at the Police Staff College, Bramshill. In these executive posts Sharon was appointed as the college Grievance Manager and counselled staff and students with personal and professional difficulties. She was also involved extensively in counselling probationary police officers and was executive secretary to the National Community and Race Relations Training Project. This latter post led to her selection as a facilitator on Diversity and Race Awareness courses for senior civil servants. Sharon also assisted a local church women’s group dealing with the raising of adolescent children; was a youth counsellor and counsellor for a women’s refuge. Following her appointment with the Civil Service Sharon became the Deputy Training and Development Manager for Surrey Police Operations Department. She regularly delivered induction programmes concentrating on dealing with stress caused by traumatic incidents, work-place harassment, bullying and personal difficulties. On relocating to Bahrain in 2003 Sharon was initially employed by the British Council as the Manager for Education and Library Services. During this period she was invited to sit on the Selection Panel for Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program 2005-2006. Sharon enjoys an excellent reputation as a therapist in Bahrain having assisted many individuals, local churches, the British Embassy, hospitals and the Ministry of the Interior with confidential counselling services following critical incidents. For example, when the Al Dana dhow sank close to the coast of Bahrain in 2006 with the loss of 58 lives she was called upon by the British Embassy to assist the families of British expatriates involved. In October 2008 Sharon was engaged by DHL International to provide counselling for employees and families involved in a critical incident resulting from the murder of three managers in Kabul. A Bahraini leisure company also engaged Sharon following the suicide of an employee. Sharon’ uses a number of complimentary counselling interventions and techniques in her work with clients and has a wealth of experience in many areas as outlined under the heading Counselling & Therapeutic Services. She is a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and participates in a number of business groups in Bahrain.

The aim of counselling is to assist people to recognize and understand the emotional barriers and psychological problems caused by their reactions to events in their lives. It allows and supports people to explore themselves and their thinking and feelings around their difficulties in a holistic, dynamic and challenging process. When people present for help they give off clues about the help they need. They explain, in ways that might not be clear to them, patterns of behaviour which can give a great deal of insight to a qualified and experienced therapist, about just what is happening to them inside. This empathic process built on trust and confidentiality underpins and strengthens the hope that people can work to confront and change what is causing them concern and help them move forward. This is the counselling experience you will enter into when you choose to work with Crisec'’s therapeutic services. We have extensive experience over the last 14 years working in individual, group, family, corporate and educational settings to assist people in dealing with the difficulties that befall them. Using a variety of accepted and proven counselling methods including cognitive behavioural therapy and person-centred counselling we firmly believe that counselling can be very beneficial to those in difficulty.
