I want to work in Kassel as an au-pair.
Can someone tell me how much is the cost of living in Kassel ?

  You are really German? If she is able to pay an apartment, and her salary is enough, she can live, wherever she likes - only official register at the Meldebehörde - thats all.

  There is no atom of truth in what you said here au-pairs normally leave with the family thy work for if the foreign office in kassel finds out you are not living with the family you will be in a deep mess
